Stand Boldly

Read John 17:1 through 18:40

When Martin opened his locker at the fitness club, his Bible fell to the floor. Larry, who degraded Christians every time he got the chance, said to Martin, “I should’ve known you’re one of them.”

Martin was tempted to say he had opened the wrong locker. Instead, he looked Larry in the eye and said, “Yes, I am ‘one of them.’ And if you’re interested, I’ll help you become ‘one of them’ too!” Larry was floored by Martin’s bold reply and eventually let Martin share with him the good news of Jesus Christ.

“You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?” she asked Peter. He replied, “I am not” (John 18:17).

Believers can be tempted to deny their faith in Christ in a number of ways. The direct statement made by Peter is only one of them. Keeping quiet when an opportunity comes to witness is also denying Christ.

Instead, ask God to give you the boldness you need to tell those around you about Jesus. Your stand for Christ may be the very push they need to help open their lives to the gospel.

Challenge for Today:

Have you stood up for Jesus today, or sat down instead?
