Be a Wall Builder

Read Ezekiel 22:1 through 23:49

God looked for someone to stand in the gap in King Saul’s day and found David, who challenged Goliath and said, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). David understood that the battle belonged to the Lord.

God looked for someone to stand in the gap in the days of the judges and found Gideon, who rebuilt the walls by tearing down the idols of the people and going to war against the armies of Midian (Judges 6–8).

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30).

God looked for someone to stand in the gap in Ezekiel’s day, but found no one. If He had, Israel’s plight might have been different. Today God looks for those who will stand in the gap and faithfully serve Him.

Prayer Suggestion:

Lord, help me to rebuild the walls of faith in my nation.
