Not Alone

Read Deuteronomy 31:1 through 34:12

Sometimes circumstances can lead people to feel like they have been abandoned by friends, relatives, and even God. Anthony Hawkes may have felt that way after a mishap left him stranded in a wooded area. Hunting squirrels along the Loosahatchie River north of Memphis, Hawkes somehow became mired in mud up to his waist. He tried to free himself but could not. He tried to signal boats passing on the river and
helicopters flying overhead, but he escaped the notice of human eyes. Darkness fell. Hawkes passed the night praying. But when the sun rose on Monday, he was still stuck. Rescue finally came after a passing fisherman spotted Hawkes and summoned help.

If you are feeling alone and mired in difficulties, take heart. Help is already there.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

No matter what you are facing, remember that you are not alone. God has promised that He will never abandon His children.

Prayer Suggestion: Ask God to help you recognize that He is with you today.
