Persecution

Read Jeremiah 25:1 through 27:22

God gave Jeremiah the words to say and even told him where to stand as he preached. The result? He was arrested and put on trial.

But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, “You must die!” (Jeremiah 26:8).

Ultimately wisdom prevailed, and he wasn’t killed for speaking God’s words.

Today, many Christians face death in countries around the world for speaking God’s words. Daily they deal with threats, arrests, and even death as they risk everything for the sake of telling others about God’s plan of salvation.

Their fellow Christians should pray for them, write to them, and help them through charities. Modern technology makes this easier than ever before. But perhaps the greatest thing a Christian can do is to follow their example and be bold in talking about Jesus, regardless of the consequences.

Prayer Suggestion:

God, please protect and empower Christians in Iraq, Iran, and around the world.
