Pain Prevention

Read 1 Chronicles 4:1 through 6:81

Have you experienced hurt as a result of another person’s decision? Often people do not consider the impact their poor decisions have on others. These choices cause pain that could have been prevented. Being named a pain by his mother, Jabez experienced hurt himself. He determined that he wanted something else for his life, so he went to the Lord.

“Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Being kept from harm includes divine protection, but may also refer to receiving wisdom to avoid making poor choices. By seeking the Lord’s guidance, believers avoid all kinds of hurt. Jabez recognized the Lord as his source of help.

If you have been hurt because of another’s choice, look to the Lord for healing. If you have hurt others because of your choices, look to Him for forgiveness and restoration. He grants wisdom for daily life, and He desires His children to be safe and a blessing to others.
