Walking or Stumbling?

Read Hosea 14:1–9

Walking along a forest path in darkness can be dangerous. Roots and rocks threaten to cause a walker to stumble. A wise man will carry a flashlight on such a journey to prevent falling and injury.

Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them (Hosea 14:9).

Wisdom and discernment begin with understanding the ways of the Lord. Apart from His ways, no one can truly be wise. Many search for wisdom and claim to be intelligent people, but if they lack respect for the ways of the Lord they are truly unwise.

The righteous walk in the ways of the Lord. Those who rebel against God’s ways will trip over His commands because they are resisting the path that He has provided.

Submitting to the Lord’s ways will enable you to walk straight and secure. It may not be an easy path at times, but it is better than stumbling through life on your own.

Thought for Today:
