Versed in Life

Read 2 Samuel 22:1 through 24:25; Luke 16:1–18

Justin always enjoyed spending time at his grandparents’ home. Grandpa told exciting stories, taught him how to work with wood, and set a godly example. Grandpa called it “living for God in work clothes.” Now Grandpa’s life was drawing to a close.

The extended family gathered in Grandpa’s room. They read his favorite Scriptures, sang hymns, and prayed. Grandpa blessed each one from his bed and encouraged them all to stay true to the Lord. He slipped away with a peaceful smile on his wrinkled face.

That day, Justin’s daily Bible reading included this verse:

“For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I am not guilty of turning from my God” (2 Samuel 22:22).

It was a fitting reminder of God’s care and a challenge to remain faithful as had King David and Grandpa. Justin purposed to make the verse his life’s motto and goal.

Sometimes a Bible verse grabs a person’s attention. Perhaps the Spirit wants to use that particular truth as a signpost in life. Cling to God’s Word and let it accomplish its purpose in your life.

Challenge for Today:

Find a verse to live by.
