The True You

The True You

Read 王上 1 Kings 14:1 through 16:34

But the Lord had told Ahijah, “Jeroboam’s wife is coming to ask you about her son, for he is ill, and you are to give her such and such an answer. When she arrives, she will pretend to be someone else” (1 Kings 14:5).

How often do you pretend to be someone else? Are you a different person with your friends than you are with your family? Are you a different person at work or at church than at home?
Of course we interact with people in different ways because of the personalities and situations involved, but we must be careful that we do not pretend to be someone else. We must not hide behind false identities, personalities, or attitudes. Instead, we need to be true to the person God made us to be.
We cannot hide from God, and we cannot pretend with Him. God created us, loves us, and knows our innermost thoughts. That fact should comfort us, especially during those times we feel no one really knows who we are. God always knows who we are.
