Peter’s Four Mistakes

Read Luke 21:1 through 22:71

Many people have done something or refused to do something and then later regretted their actions. Peter is one of them.

And he went outside and wept bitterly (Luke 22:62).

During the arrest and trial of Jesus, the apostle Peter made four crucial mistakes. He miscalculated the power of the devil. Christians are warned to be careful that they don’t fall (1 Corinthians 10:12).

Peter also overestimated his own strength. Humans can never resist Satan in their own strength. Believers are to stand firm and trust God.

Peter’s third mistake was trusting in the wrong weapons (Luke 22:38). Worldly weapons will never win spiritual battles.

Peter’s fourth mistake was miscalculating the power of prayer. He was sleeping when he should have been watching and praying.

Peter made his mistakes, but he went out and wept bitter tears of repentance. He was never the same after that.

Challenge for Today:

Resolve not to make the same mistakes Peter did. Make every effort to be at peace with Christ (2 Peter 3:14).
