FRIENDS

Read Exodus 32:1 – 34:35

When Teresa was a third grader, her teacher encouraged her class to write French children. Teresa was excited to receive a response from Louise. They wrote to each other regularly. By the time they were fifteen, they were exchanging weekly messages. They learned to speak each other’s language and planned to meet face-to-face someday. When they were nineteen, Louise visited the United States. She and Teresa spent three fabulous weeks together. Forty years later, they are still best friends. Through the wonders of technology, they can now “see” each other every day.

“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend (Exodus 33:11).”

Jesus called His disciples friends (John 15:14-16). We too are called to be His friends and to share our hopes, joys, fears, and sorrows with Him “as one speaks to a friend”. Are you willing to respond to His invitation to friendship and make efforts to communicate with Him on a regular basis?

Prayer Suggestion:

Holy Spirit, help me to develop my friendship with Jesus.
