Facing Discouragement

Read 2 Chronicles 32:1 and 33:25

Most believers have never confronted an imposing army like King Hezekiah did. Still, Christians fight major battles every day. Some deal with harassing bosses or coworkers who accuse them falsely. Others face bills or debts that strike like a flurry of arrows, tearing holes in bank accounts and draining their funds.

Secular teachings take their toll as well, assaulting faith from every angle. Sickness and disease attack body and soul. Even seasoned ministers deal with doubts and discouragement. Demonic forces would love to see all Christians routed, their hope destroyed.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him” (2 Chronicles 32:7).

Judah gained confidence from Hezekiah’s admonition, and so can we. For the Lord is our defender too. Moreover, He still has an impressive army of angels at His command. As Hezekiah would discover, even one angel was more than enough for victory.

Thought for Today:

Christ in us is greater than any enemy, spiritual or otherwise.
