Compassionate Prayers

Read Proverbs 9:1 through 12:28

For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers (Proverbs 11:14).

At times it seems like every nation on earth is about to collapse. Does that mean Jesus is returning soon? Of course! That’s what He promised (Revelation 3:11). Yet our definition of “soon” differs from God’s.

It’s tempting to hide from the insanity. But if Christians go into hiding, the earth will have no godly influences. Instead, they should lift their concerns to Jesus. One thing all believers can do is pray for godly advisers to surround their leaders.

The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy and urged him to pray and intercede for all people, especially those in authority. “That we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:2–3).

While the time of Jesus’ return is unknown, one thing is clear. This lost, suffering world needs the compassionate prayers of the saints, both today and forever.

Challenge for Today:

Make a habit of praying diligently for national and local leaders.
